NPL: Player donations, but still non-profit?

mardi 2 février 2016

I am trying to figure out these rules for the nonprofit TS3 license.

I help run a small Minecraft server network where we do accept donations from players but we do NOT make any money. No staff are paid anything. We do ask for players to donate, but all donations are poured directly into paying for server datacenter fees, DDOS protection, and website operation.

It costs somewhere around $4000 a year to run our Minecraft network, for us to be able to run about 8-10 different huge modpacks like Sky Factory 2, FTB Infinity, and FTB Regrowth at the same time on a single ultra-high performance 12-core colo server with 64 gig of memory and DDOS protection.

The last couple times we've done the annual renewals, we end up short and have had to pay from our own pockets to cover for what we lack in player donations.

So yes, we do have an evil Donate link on our website, that the TS3 non-profit license page rants about, but it's all thrown into that hole in the ground solely to benefit the players.
