Hello,
I have seen some user on my server who have channel with a large amount of pictures linked in via the bb-codes. If someone clicks on that channel, the pictures will load and and that will evoke a short (or long) lag.
As a software engineer, I would implement a feature, wich allows to load the whole description after the channel is clicked.
Also, but this is a much more difficult suggestion, I would implement a bb code wich allows to integrate a whole website into the description, like the iframe tag in html does.
