Windows Keys no longer usable as hotkeys

I am using client Windows 64 bit version 3.0.18.1 with Windows 7 pro SP1 64 bit. As of version 3.0.17 the client no longer accepts input from any Windows keys. I have used a typical registry edit to disable the original function of Windows keys, and they have worked as hotkeys in TS3 clients from version 3.0.16 and older. The server I currently connect to forced me to update my version of TS3. There have been no hardware changes to my computer that would affect this.

I'm hoping Windows key support will be restored to future TS3 clients. I find the Windows Keys to be perfect push-to-talk keys because no games or other programs use them.
