I've bought my first few guns over the past year. Most of them have external hammers and are double/single action, if I can help it. It just feels comfortable and reliable.
I'm looking into getting a revolver for a CCW. I see a lot of internal hammers for these guns and I just can't help but think that they are overcomplicated and unreliable. I've never heard anything about them one way or the other.
I don't know much about gun maintenance and would like to get proficient enough to take a gun apart, replace some simple parts, and put it back together. The hammer should be one of these parts. I think this would get more complicated with an internal hammer. Do you guys and gals have any thoughts on internal hammers, especially when it comes to revolvers?
Currently, I don't like double action on a gun, but I can learn with practice.
